Rita Nitsch cordially invites to the traditional Feast of Pentecost on May 19, 2024 from 1 pm at Prinzendorf Castle!

The annual Feast of Pentecost has been canceled for the past four years. This year it is once again possible to take part in the traditional Pentecost festival and visit Prinzendorf Castle, where Nitsch lived and worked. In the spirit of Nitsch, we have decided this year to invite four artists who were contributing performers in the Orgies Mysteries Theatre to show their own work at Prinzendorf.

admission to Prinzendorf Castle from 1 pm
exhibition with artworks from Hermann Nitsch, Katrin Sturm and Felix Wittibschlager
presentation: “stage animal” Johannes Rass at 3 pm
performance: ASCENSION by Josef Ka at 4.30 pm
procession through the fields from 6 pm
end of the feast at approx. 9 pm

The Feast of Pentecost takes place in all weathers. We recommend comfortable footwear and rainwear if necessary.

Registration and shuttle bus
As usual, you can pay the contribution towards costs of 20€ (incl. food and beverages) for the Feast of Pentecost directly in cash at the donation box on Pentecost Sunday in Prinzendorf. If you plan to arrive by bus we suggest to book the contribution (20€) and the seat on the return shuttle Vienna (also 20€) in the orderform below or in our onlineshop.

Our Association members have free admission but are kindly requested to pay their annual fee on time to the Association’s account (IBAN: AT34 3255 1000 0048 4238).

TIP 1: Wiener Aktionismus Museum & Feast of Pentecost

Director Julia Moebus-Puck is offering a special guided tour of the exhibition “What is Vienna Actionism?” at the new Vienna Actionism Museum on Pentecost Sunday. The museum will open at 10 am on this day to mark the occasion. Admission costs 7€ for adults (students/seniors 3.50€), the guided tour starts at 10.15 am and is free of charge. From the museum it is just a 10-minute walk to the shuttle bus to Prinzendorf.

TIP 2: nitsch museum & Feast of Pentecost
Visit the exhibition “Raumdramaturgie” by Andrea Cusumano at the nitsch museum in Mistelbach on Saturday, May 18, 2024 and take part in his Live Performance between 3.30 pm and 9.30 pm.
Andrea Cusumano, student and assistant of Hermann Nitsch, musical director of the Orgien Mysterien Theater since 1998, has been conducting artistic experimental research focusing on the dramaturgical potential of objects and spaces for over 30 years. In doing so, he has created an individual and extraordinary body of work that represents a contemporary interpretation of the concept of Total Art in a post-humanist form. His exhibition “Raumdramaturgie” can be seen at the nitsch museum until Monday, May 20, 2024.

The Association to support the Orgies Mysteries Theater
The Feast of Pentecost is a celebration for all members of the Association to support the Orgies Mysteries Theater, together with friends and interested parties of Hermann Nitsch’s Gesamtkunstwerk. The task of the association is to support the O.M. Theatre Project in its principles and to make the performances of the Orgien Mysterien Theater possible by membership contributions. The association for the promotion of the O. M. Theatre was founded in 1973, in the same year the founding ceremony took place in the context of the first Pentecost feast in the castle Prinzendorf. The advantages of membership include free admission to the Feast of Pentecost, a gift each year, 30% discount on all available publications and editions, reduced prices on tickets to the nitsch museum and large actions in Prinzendorf. The annual membership fee remains unchanged at 70€. This years annual gift is an item you may select from a diverse array of publications.
