Radio Ö1 | Opus
June 16, 2022, 10.05pm
Join Hermann Nitsch and Alfred Hosp for an evening about the art of sound. In addition to their dialogue (recorded 2016/17), the listener is offered samples of great variety among with Nitsch’s own compositions and his favourite pieces as Tibetan temple chant, Bach’s “High Mass,” Wagner’s “Tristan and Isolde”, Webern’s “The Light of the Eye”, and Orff’s “Oedipus”, as well as instrumental music ranging from Mozart’s last symphony to Beethoven’s 7th, Bruckner’s 5th, and Mahler’s 10th to Scriabin’s “Poeme de l’extase”. The musical examples are not arranged chronologically but thematically – one composition meets another in peaceful confrontation.
