NEW BOOK
catalogue "Hermann Nitsch. Hommage"
Accompanying the exhibition “Hermann Nitsch. Tribute” at the Musée de l’Orangerie in Paris, a fine bilingual catalog with the same title was published by Editore SKIRA.
This book is a tribute to Hermann Nitsch, the world-famous painter, founder of Viennese Actionism and known for his spectacular performances, who passed away in 2022.
Deeply inspired by religious dramaturgy, the painter was also a fervent admirer of Impressionism, and more particularly of Claude Monet and his Nymphéas. Here, the artist delivers canvases in powerfully expressive colors that deeply resonate with Monet’s works.
As part of a contemporary counterpoint, the Musée de l’Orangerie is showing works by Nitsch in expressive colors that are strongly reminiscent of Monet’s painting. The exhibition “Hermann Nitsch. Tribute” can be seen in Paris until February 12, 2024.
