A Life in Dialogues

Homage to Peppe Morra

The exhibition “A Life in Dialogues: Homage to Peppe Morra” (Dialoghi di una vita. Omaggio a Peppe Morra) will be presented in Gibellina from 9 October, in collaboration with the Fondazione Morra.

Peppe Morra – gallerist, collector, producer, festival founder and publisher – is a key figure in Italian and international contemporary art. His collection, which led to the creation of the Fondazione Morra, the Museo e Laboratorio Hermann Nitsch, Casa Shimamoto, Casa Morra and the Art Citadel project in Caggiano, is one of the most remarkable private art collections in Italy.

It includes works such as Allan Kaprow’s famous “Six Rooms”, the “Relics” by Hermann Nitsch, works by Günter Brus, and pieces by Fluxus artists including Dick Higgins, Charlotte Moorman and Geoffrey Hendricks. The collection also features works by John Cage, Gina Pane, Julian Beck and the Living Theatre, Joseph Beuys, and the Japanese Gutai group, with a particular focus on Shozo Shimamoto. Other artists represented are Luca Maria Patella and Vettor Pisani.

The exhibition project draws a parallel between Morra’s experiences and those of Ludovico Corrao, the former mayor of Gibellina. Both developed visions for creating a cultural centre in southern Italy through contemporary art.

“A Life in Dialogues: Homage to Peppe Morra” is curated by Andrea Cusumano and Antonio Leone.

The exhibition will be on view from 9 October to 13 December 2026 in different locations (Teatro Consagra, the MAC Museum, the Church of Gesù e Maria, and the Atelier of the Fondazione Orestiadi) in Gibellina.
