As part of the current exhibition “Aderlass” (Bloodletting) by the exceptional Austrian artist Hermann Nitsch, the event “Written in Blood – Nitsch, Renner, and the Language of Ritual” invites you to a public discussion at Magazin 4 in Bregenz on September 24 at 18:00.
Curator Judith Reichart will talk to artist Paul Renner—Nitsch’s long-time companion and artistic partner—about central themes in the action artist’s work: ritual as an existential act, the relationship between body and art, the language of material, and the traces that Nitsch’s radical oeuvre leaves in contemporary art discourse.
At the same time, the conversation also focuses on Paul Renner as an independent artist with an unmistakable signature style. It highlights his close collaboration with Nitsch as well as his own position within a shared understanding of art as a radical experience.
