Aderlass

exhibition in the context of Kultursommer 2025 in Bregenz

Kultursommer 2025 sees itself as both a platform and a laboratory for these processes: A place where rituals can not only be observed, but also discussed,
designed – and also physically experienced through performance and participation.

The starting point for the Kultursommer is the exhibition on Hermann Nitsch. His work thrives on ritual gestures, blood, sound, symbol and body. The exhibition explores central themes of his art as a space of experience – intense, demanding, present.

Relics from the Orgien Mysterien Theater, action paintings, photographs and films are presented – including a documentary about the artist. A special focus is on the collaboration with Paul Renner, who made a striking statement with his Teatrum Anatomicum (2007, Kunsthaus Bregenz): a performative installation in which Hermann Nitsch’s 123rd action was performed.

The ceremonial opening of the exhibition “Aderlass” will take place on Saturday, 12 July 2025 at 18:30h in Magazin 4 in Bregenz. Duration of the exhibition: 15.7. to 19.10.2025.
