Two years after the death of Hermann Nitsch, Rita Nitsch, in collaboration with the Association for the Promotion of the Orgien Mysterien Theaters and the Nitsch Foundation, is once again organising the traditional Feast of Pentecost at Prinzendorf Castle on 19 May 2024.
The Feast of Pentecost was conceived by Hermann Nitsch in 1973 as an annual event for his supporters and friends and has been held at Prinzendorf Castle, where Nitsch lived and worked. We are therefore particularly pleased to open up the artist’s place of work to interested visitors in this intimate setting, after the first three days of his 6-day play have already been performed here posthumously in the last two years.
In Nitsch’s spirit, it was decided this year to offer four artists who are involved in the Orgien Mysterien Theater as actors the opportunity to show their own works. The program includes a live performance by Finnish artist Josef Ka, the presentation of a spectacular “stage animal” by Johannes Rass, as well as paintings by Katrin Sturm and Felix Wittibschlager.
As usual, works by Hermann Nitsch will also be on display and books, prints, editions and posters will be available in the shop.
In addition to the artistic programme, there will once again be a joint procession through the surrounding vineyards. During the entire event, guests will be catered for with traditional food from a wine tavern and pure Nitsch wine.
On the day before, on Saturday 18 May, the nitsch museum in Mistelbach invites you to a special program: Andrea Cusumano will be giving a live performance together with pianist Marino Formenti between 3.30 pm and 9.30 pm. His current exhibition “Raumdramaturgie” can be seen there up to and including 20 May.
