"Il Museo Hermann Nitsch archvio e laboratorio di museologia" by Massimo Mairorino

January 22, 2025, 7pm

Museo Hermann Nitsch, Napoli, IT

The Fondazione Morra and the Edizioni Paparo publishing house will present the book “Il Museo Hermann Nitsch, archivio e laboratorio di museologia” by Massimo Maiorino on January 22, 2025 at 7 p.m. in Naples.

The Museo Hermann Nitsch in Naples is a monographic museum dedicated to the artist’s total work of art. It was founded in 2008 resulting from the long-standing friendship between the gallery owner Giuseppe Morra and the Austrian artist Hermann Nitsch. The museum is a unique example of a total work of art based on the canon of contemporary museology and museography.

Massimo Maiorino’s book offers a valuable reading that traces the life of the museum through conceptual nuclei, building theoretical constellations that have been present in the series of publications that the museum has experienced from 2008 to the recent installation “50 anni di amicizia 1974-2024” curated by Giuseppe Morra.

A reflection that recognizes in the polysemantic configuration of the Museo Hermann Nitsch – archive and laboratory for contemporary art – a privileged observation framework for the museum and museology of this new millennium, a critical space that holds together the museum and the city, participatory practices and collecting., archive and theater, which confirms the creative and productive nature of this constantly changing institution.
