Nitsch und Wagner – Zwei Giganten des Gesamtkunstwerks

Lecture by curator Julia Kuon

April 30, 2022, 6pm

nitsch museum, Mistelbach, AT

Both Richard Wagner and Hermann Nitsch have significantly shaped the concept of the Gesamtkunstwerk, Wagner in the field of opera and Nitsch with his Orgien Mysterien Theater.

In the course of the painting action “Die Walküre” as part of the Bayreuth Festival 2021, the concepts of the two giants of the Gesamtkunstwerk met for the first time. Through Nitsch’s painting-actionist contribution, the sounds became colours and the colours became sounds. The lecture will look at the development of the Gesamtkunstwerk, the cultural-historical significance of the two artists and their artistic encounter in the course of the Bayreuth Festival 2021.

The lecture will be held in german.

Admission is free.
Registration is essential at anmeldung@nitschmuseum.at
The event will take place in compliance with the current COVID-19 regulations. We recommend wearing an FFP2 mask in any case.
