nitsch museum, Mistelbach, AT

The nitsch museum in Mistelbach invites you to a literary-musical “devotion” of the stations of the cross on Saturday, 13 September 2025 at 14:00 as part of the current exhibition “My Nitsch”.

In his art, Hermann Nitsch celebrates life in archaic symbols such as that of blood in order to celebrate life itself and transform the symbols of religions into something primordial, so that religion, art and life find their way back to their original unity. This afternoon at the nitsch museum can also be understood as a literary-musical “devotion” of the stations of the cross.

The theologian and psychotherapist Arnold Mettnitzer takes direct reference to the current exhibition “My Nitsch – curated by Karlheinz Essl” and assigns texts from world literature to the individual “stations”, to which the internationally award-winning saxophonist Edgar Unterkirchner responds musically.
