an intervention by Maria De Vivo

The pictorial experience of Hermann Nitsch in the international unity and convergence – an intervention by Maria De Vivo at Museo Hermann Nitsch in Napels.
Maria De Vivo, independent researcher for the University of Naples “L’Orientale”, will give an insight into the approach of Hermann Nitsch’s paintings.
When Hermann Nitsch theorized “Das Orgien Mysterien Theater” in the late 1950s, many international artists associated with “informel” and “action painting” had already placed the body and gesture at the center of their pictorial practice. While acknowledging the impact of these experiences (“aktionsmalerei”), Nitsch radicalized their results, creating a total work of art with a theatrical and ritual character. Through an ideal chain of references (Pollock, Mathieu, Klein, Viennese Actionism, etc.), the presentation analyzes convergences, divergences, and procedural peculiarities within painting.
The presenation will be held in italian language.
