Albertina Klosterneuburg
Opening of the musuem in Lower Austria
With the opening of ALBERTINA KLOSTERNEUBURG, the ALBERTINA Museum is pursuing an important goal: to make a large part of its collection of post-1945 art accessible to the public. Artworks that are neither being shown in exhibitions at the ALBERTINA Museum or ALBERTINA MODERN nor currently on loan elsewhere will be presented to the interested public in Klosterneuburg.
he revival of the museum facility in Klosterneuburg as a new location is not only important for the ALBERTINA Museum and its exhibiting program, but also marks a significant augmentation of museum offerings for both the Province of Lower Austria and Austria as a nation of culture. No place is better suited to our purposes than the former Essl Museum, which was designed by architect Heinz Tesar with an eye to mixed use as a depot and museum.
We are very much looking forward to seeing works by Hermann Nitsch there again, such as his Kreuzwegstation (1962) from the Essl Collection.
TIP: Free admission on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 April 2024 from 10 am to 6 pm.
