Florentina Holzinger in conversation with Almuth Spiegler

Artist talk about the performance “Pfingstspiel” on Wednesday, 20 May 2026 at the nitsch museum.

With PFINGSTSPIEL, Florentina Holzinger—who is also representing Austria at this year’s Venice Biennale—creates a new, multi‑hour performance in Vienna and Prinzendorf. “At this site, we want to summon memory and continue, transform, and retell the stories that originated here,” says Holzinger, whose performance references Hermann Nitsch’s legendary feast of Pentecost at Schloss Prinzendorf. With fireworks and bells, music and motorcycles, Holzinger and her performers invoke the memory of a place that stands like few others for radical performance.

As part of the rehearsal process, the internationally acclaimed choreographer will be a guest at the nitsch museum for an artist talk, speaking with Almuth Spiegler (Die Presse) about her performance, her body of work, and her connections to Hermann Nitsch.

PFINGSTSPIEL is a satellite event of the Austrian contribution to the Venice Biennale and is produced as a co‑production of the Wiener Festwochen and the Nitsch Foundation in cooperation with the nitsch museum and VERBUND.

The ticket also grants access to the current exhibitionfrom sunrise on”.
