nitsch museum, Mistelbach, AT

The year 2018 in the nitsch museum Mistelbach is all about the 80th birthday of Hermann Nitsch, which is celebrated with a special exhibition: “Hermann Nitsch – LIFE AND WORK”. The exhibition focuses on Hermann Nitsch’s artistic work of the last 65 years and on personal events that had a special influence on his development. The life and work of the universal artist Hermann Nitsch have always merged seamlessly. The exhibition conveys this connection and thus enables a profound understanding of the ideas and artistic approaches of Hermann Nitsch. A 130 meter long biographical trail with important works and original documents outlines the most important phases in the life of Hermann Nitsch.

On the occasion of this anniversary exhibition one of the highlights is the opening speech by Giuseppe Morra, Hermann Nitsch’s long-time companion and friend. Giuseppe Morra has realized numerous actions, exhibitions, projects and publications over the past decades for and with Hermann Nitsch. In 2008 he dedicated a monographic museum to the artist in Naples, the Museo Archivio Laboratorio per le Arti Contemporanee Hermann Nitsch, short: Museo Hermann Nitsch

Michael Karrer (artistic director of the nitsch museum) gives a special guided tour together with Hermann Nitsch and will talk to him about the artist’s extraordinary life and work.
