RAUMDRAMATURGIE #4 – LA MUSICA E LO SPAZIO NELL’O.M. THEATRE | ANDREA CUSUMANO

In the run-up to Andrea Cusumano’s major solo exhibition at the nitsch museum, the Manuel Zoia Gallery is delighted to invite you to the first presentation of the monograph “Raumdramaturgie”. As part of the book launch, selected works from Cusumano’s Retablo, Ostrakon and Neri series will be shown – as well as the Italian premiere of the film “Symphony for Mexico City by Hermann Nitsch” with Andrea Cusumano as the conductor.

As a former student and collaborator of Hermann Nitsch, and musical director of the Orgien Mysterien Theatre since 1998, Andrea Cusumano has developed a research focused on the dramaturgy of space over the course of an experimental process lasting more than 30 years, resulting in a personal and highly original work that represents a contemporary interpretation of the concept of the Gesamtkunstwerk in a post-humanist key.

Despite working intensively on his own œuvre, Andrea Cusumano always found time to conduct events and premieres of Hermann Nitsch’s symphonies. This was also the case in 2015, when Hermann Nitsch was unable to take part in rehearsals due to illness and handed over sole artistic responsibility for the world premiere to his friend Andrea Cusumano for the first time.
